Aids & Equipment

After an initial assessment at home or in the community, I will make recommendations on the use of certain aids and equipment to help with maximising independence with all activities of daily living. I can organise trials of different types of equipment to determine the most appropriate fit, and help clients become comfortable and familiar with their use.

Home Modifications

Clients with special needs and/or physical limitations may require adaptations to their home or work environments to maintain their independence and safety.  This may involve alternate flooring to prevent slips and falls, installing grab rails in bathrooms, wheelchair access ramps, full bathroom modifications, easy to use light fixtures, door openers and more. An on site assessment is performed to develop modification plans.  A detailed report with recommendations for modifications is developed in consultation with a registered builder where required.

Manual Handling

My primary focus around manual handling is to eliminate the risk of injury. The right equipment, work environment and correct manual handling technique may help prevent injuries to both my client and their caregiver. I can help trial and prescribe equipment, and can develop and run manual handling training in home or for larger organisations.

Functional Assessments & Reports

By assessing a client's current functional capacity and considering changes in future function, I can make recommendations for equipment, modification, alternate housing or funded supports. These functional activities may include getting in and out of bed, showering, getting dressed, preparing meals, driving, using public transport, mobiling and more. I have years of experience in undertaking these assessments and documenting reports for care oganisations, NDIS or funding bodies.
